Jessica Turner and Cassie Rosita Patterson, Executive Director and Special Projects Consultant for the American Folklore Society (AFS), have tender and thoughtful conversation with Nayantara and Maureen, bringing together all many strands flowing through the first season of SORA podcast. Amidst laughter, stories, and – of course – gingham and glitter(!), Jessica and Cassie highlight how AFS strives to create community within and beyond the organization, the role of emotionally tending to people beyond being consumers or producers of knowledge, and the importance of understanding the symbiotic nature of knowledge produced within and outside instititons and how this can be concretely supported and nurtured. They illustrate how AFS acheives this through a celebration of color, comeraderie, and play!
